My cat Vicki is big and gray and soft and he used to be feral. Our family has loved on him so much over 9 years that he can now relax and trust. He sleeps a lot right next to me and he knows how to chill! He understand how to just "be."
When I start to feel sorry for myself for all the things migraine stops me from doing, Vicki is often nearby to listen to me cry. There's a website I really like called migraineagain.com with stories of how migraines sufferers cope. One woman shared that for her, resting was an important part of life. My cat Vicki embodies that sentiment, and I love him for it! Resting does not mean lazy. I also have anxiety, which often goes along with migraine life, and for better or worse, the anxiety keeps me motivated to move forward. I don't stay feeling sorry for myself for long. I try to live in solution. And sometimes, according to my wise cat Vicki, the solution is to just rest until I can get up and trudge ahead once again. I love you Vicki!
Vicki is a good meditation partner. He settles right in and we both relax as we listen. Bellruth Naparstek offers amazing, simple meditations focused on healing and protection. Migraine life requires that we find support for where we're at in our journey. Whenever Bellruth mentions the special spirit guide in her meditations, I know Vicki is part of that.
